Pieter Willems' layout is an example of how well a modular concept can work by building up a larger layout step by step.
Gavin Hall's Zoo Valley layout is an example of how much fun a freelance Swiss setting can be when brought to life in the form of a Z scale layout.
Rob Albritton's Gotthard modular layout is an example of just what can be done if Z scale is used not to build a small layout but to build a realistic layout in fairly large proportions.
Helmut Paule's Rorschach-Heiden Bergbahn is definitely a layout which is off the beaten track as he recreates a quaint prototype using Freudenreich stock and accessories. (auch in Deutsch) A minimal space layout modelled on a real location on the South-Eastern approaching lines into Berne - despite its very modest size of 80 x 50 cm only.
